The Source Magazine is a good place to start when looking for some fresh new Hip-hop and this month’s issue is sure to please. The cover story feautures four artist who made a lot of noise in 2011 and who are gearing up to have an even bigger 2012: 2 Chainz, Tyra, Mac Miller, and Kendrick Lamar.
2 Chains experienced a career make over after changing his name(Guess Titty Boi wasn’t so user friendly) and dropping the single “Spend it”. The T.I. assisted remix only pushed the single farther and in November he dropped the T.R.U. Religion mixtape.
Tyga rode into 2012 on the Chris Brown “Deuces” wave and has since dropped the club banger and 2012 Tax Return Season anthem “Rack City”.
Mac Miller had a great 2011 and beat out Coldplay and Adele as #1 on the iTunes Album Chart with his debut Blue Slide Park back in November. He also got major props from the richest hairpiece in America, Donald Trump.
Last but not least is Kendrick Lamar. While many people are hailing him as the savior of the West Coast, he doesn’t brag much but lets the rhymes speak for itself. With co-signs from West Coast legends like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre it’s very likely he’s the heir to the Left Coast throne. He dropped Section 80 last year and has been popping up all over the place. No word on why K.Dot didn’t make the actual cover…
