The Air Jordan transformed basketball shoes into what they are today. The Nike Air Jordan captured the attention of not only basketball players and athletes, but they also caught the eye of the fashion\u00a0conscious\u00a0adolescent, later dubbed the “Sneakerhead”. Earlier in 2012, Team Jordan gave us a sneak peek at the Air Jordan XXVIII, which differs quite a bit from the original Jordans\u00a0released\u00a0in the 80’s and early 90’s. After 28 different Air Jordan\u00a0silhouettes, the Retro Jordans continue to be in high demand and sell out across the country. Anytime Nike releases a pair of Retro Jordans, sneakerheads line up outside the sneaker stores and wait for their pair. It is actually quite a phenomenon to see a pair of shoes maintain and actually grow in popularity year after year for over two decades.<\/p>\n

This brings us to the topic.. Will Nike release Retro LeBrons<\/strong><\/em><\/span> in 20 years? Will the Nike LeBrons stand the test of time and continue to \u00a0hold weight in the sneaker culture? Many sports\u00a0enthusiasts\u00a0claim that LeBron is an equal to Jordan and some go as far to say he is better than Jordan. While I do not personally agree that LeBron is better than Jordan, that is a whole other debate. This debate is over the sneakers.<\/p>\n LeBron James signed a $93 Million dollar endorsement deal with Nike when he was fresh out of high school. That was a strong sign that Nike was attempting to brand yet another NBA Superstar and maintain dominancy over the basketball sneaker industry. With the amazing amount of success the Air Jordan sneaker has brought Nike, it is only expected that the sneaker\u00a0conglomerate\u00a0 continue to sign the next generation of superstars.<\/p>\n The difference between the Air Jordan and LeBron sneakers varies quite a bit. The first pair of Air Jordans was\u00a0released\u00a0in \u00a01985. The technology put into basketball shoes back then is nothing when compared to todays sneakers. All of the LeBrons have more futuristic elements put into their design when compared to the earlier\u00a0release\u00a0of Air Jordans. However, todays sneaker heads seem to favor the Retro Jordans instead of the LeBrons. Is it the concept of rocking old school sneakers that drive these kids to the mall to cop the Retro Jordans? Is it the impressive basketball career of Michael Jordan that keeps sneakerheads lining up? Is it the colorways.. is it the media.. What makes the Air Jordans maintain such a high level of demand?
