<\/a><\/p>\nit’s the time of year when we celebrate African-American history and culture. Lambert-St. Louis International Airport did just that yesterday with the re-dedication of its \u2018Black Americans in Flight\u2019 mural. <\/p>\n
This mural highlights the contributions of African Americans in aviation through the Space Age. \u201cI am honored for the opportunity to re-introduce the mural to the community,\u201d said mural artist Solomon Thurman, who shared his story about the history and the making of the mural with an audience at the airport on February 16.\u201cThe mural is a visual illustration of African Americans\u2019 role in aviation history from the beginning to the present,\u201d said Thurman. \u201cThe greatest lesson is the story of how it was accomplished. This mural demonstrates to everyone who visits or lives in St. Louis that we are proud of our rich aviation history.\u201d If you do make it to Lambert Airport to peep the mural make sure you stop by Dropcents<\/a> right across Highway 70!<\/p>\n Political activist, scholar, and author Angela Davis will also hit the city on Sunday February 26th. <\/p>\n She will be speaking on “Black Women in American Culture and History,” and will also be signing her books, which will be for sale.
