Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein was found dead in his New York City apartment on Friday.
“The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear,” a rep for the celebrity deejay said. However, it appears DJ AM’s death was drug-related.
A crack pipe and prescription pills were found in DJ AM’s apartment, an anonymous law enforcement official told the Associated Press. DJ AM’s body was reportedly found shirtless after police broke down the door to his apartment when friends could not reach him.
DJ AM, who dated Nicole Richie and Mandy Moore, has battled drug addiction and survived a plane crash last September.
“Nicole is in shock and hasn’t been able to stop crying since she heard the news!†a source told Star of DJ AM’s ex, who is just days away from giving birth to her second child with Joel Madden.
Fellow deejay Samantha Ronson wrote, “Waiting for someone to say this isn’t true.” Lindsay Lohan said, “I can’t believe this… I’m in shock. Why? Why? R.I.P. Adam.”
John Mayer wrote, “We’re supposed to lose our friends to time, at an age when we’re ready to agree to the terms of having lived a long life. Not now.” Ryan Seacrest lamented, “So sad the hear about Adam. A very kind and generous guy.”
Damn, he just survived a plane crash just a few months ago, now he lets sum punk ass dope take his life.. RIP DJ AM
