Nike Air Yeezy 2

Say what you want about Kanye, he’s kinda winning right now. Earlier this year along side Jay-Z he headlined what many people are considering to be the best tour in recent memory, which accompanied their Watch the Throne album. Recently he’s been keeping the cyber streets and radio buzzing with his ‘Too Cold (Theraflu)’ single, his clique taking over Chief Keith’s “I Don’t Like” track, and the G.O.O.D. Music posse cut “Mercy“. But aside from all of that stuff that he’s supposed to be doing, what I’m most impressed with is the frenzy he’s created in the sneaker community with the lead up and (tomorrow) release of the Nike Air Yeezy 2.

For probably the last six months I’ve been hearing rumors and reading blog post with nothing but speculation about what the 2nd edition of the Yeezy’s would entail. Then a couple of weeks ago the pics and release date dropped online and many of the Kanye hype beast haven’t shut up about ’em since. Only 3,000-5,000 pair of the shoes are expected to be produced for this limited run. I’ve being seeing pictures all week of people lined up outside of stores and they don’t even drop ’til tomorrow! Now if it’s not enough that people are lining up days in advance, what’s most ridiculous (or magnificent if you’re Kanye or Nike) is that no one even knows what retail outlets will be selling them! That shit cray! I don’t know ’bout you, but if by some means of desperation and delusion I decide to camp out days in advance for some shoes, then once I get inside they don’t have ’em…

…That’s all I have to say about that. There was even a fake eBay bid stunt where someone sold and bought a pair of Yeezys for $90,300…
So what’s really behind all of the fantasy, hype, speculation and anticipation of the Air Yeezy 2 ?? I’m sure some of you are gonna say the Illuminati, but I’ll leave that up to you and the rest of the internet to decide…
